Scottish Variety Show

Wednesdays throughout August
from 8pm
 An evening of Scottish entertainment featuring a mini pipe band, Highland Dancer, accordionist, vocalists and guest artist. Price includes tea/coffee and biscuits during the interval when raffle tickets will be on sale. Scottish and Wick RBLS Pipe Band CDs and souvenirs on sale.

Visitors from all over the world have attended these shows and written very positive comments in the visitors book.

The Dounby Show is Orkney’s second largest agricultural show. Great show of livestock, main ring events throughout the afternoon, sheep shearing, highland dancing, show jumping. Many and varied trade and fundraising stands, catering and refreshments. Buses to and from Kirkwall and Stromness.

This spectacular event has its origin in the days when heavy horse ploughing matches were held. Children dress in beautiful, ornate costumes to replica the horse in its finery and the boys with miniature ploughs in the sand.
